Instrument Description

The ZPPR cell is a 50-ft-diameter circular room with an overall height of approximately 60 ft. The reactor has been removed. Material handling activities are performed in the ZPPR cell to support multiple National & Homeland Security experiments including development and measurements of fuel-interrogation objects to calibrate instrumentation for future programmatic and safeguards use, performing passive measurements of fuel and performing passive neutron and gamma-ray spectrometry measurements of fuel. All radioactive powders handled in the cell are enclosed in either a cladding or a closed metal confinement.
