Instrument Description
Vibration testing simulates the physical environment the radioisotope power systems (RPS) will encounter on the launch pad. The vibration tables are housed in an isolated room. In order to accomplish the testing, the RPS is mounted vertically to either an exciter table or slip table and tested at various frequencies. The results are measured simultaneously/afterwards -- and are measured by comparing the function of the RPS before and after the testing.
Vibration testing is one of several steps in ensuring proper assembly and finished product quality of the RPS. Completing this test better ensures the RPS will preserve consistent functionality and structure.
