Instrument Description
The Keyence VHX-5000 optical microscope is located in one of the shielded bays in the shielded sample preparation area (SSPA). Highly radioactive samples can be characterized up to 1,000x magnification after sample preparation in the sample preparation bay in the SSPA. This capability provides useful information on sample finish for electron microscopy, and can provide locations of further interest in high-end microscopy tools and defects present in a material.
