(MFC) Maintenance, Infrastructure & Fabrication Division. He holds a
bachelor’s degree in physics with an emphasis in radiological engineering from
Idaho State University. He has 36 years of nuclear experience, beginning in 1986 with his career in the United States Naval Nuclear Program where he spent just over nine years. He served aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) and at the A1W Prototype as a staff instructor. Following his naval service, he attended Idaho State University and obtained his degree. In 1998, he began working for Argonne National Laboratory-West as an operator in the Fuel Conditioning Facility. In 2000, he became the Fuel Conditioning Facility (FCF) plant criticality safety engineer and eventually was responsible for the criticality safety program in multiple MFC facilities. Following the Idaho National Lab merger in 2005, he served on the Hot Cell Services (HCS) Department Manager's staff and has since held multiple positions throughout MFC Operations including assistant nuclear facility manager (NFM) for Hot Fuel Examination Facility (HFEF), NFM for the Fuel Conditioning Facility, NFM for HFEF, Operations Department Manager, MFC Maintenance Department Manager, and MFC Operations, Maintenance, Infrastructure & Fabrication Division Director. In these roles Eric was responsible to ensure that these facilities were appropriately staffed, maintained, and operated to meet INL's mission in an effective, safe, and compliant manner. safety-conscious, performance-focused, and hands-on leader with proven success
in nuclear maintenance, operations, training, and construction. Philip has over 25 years of nuclear experience, beginning in 1989 with his career in the United States Naval Nuclear Program where he spent six years as a Nuclear Reactor Operator. He served aboard the USS Virginia (CGN-38) and the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71). Philip also served as a staff instructor at Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) Ballston Spa, NY and earned the Master Training Specialist certification. Following his naval service, he served in multiple roles at both Palisades & Braidwood Nuclear Generating Stations. These roles included Non-licensed Operator, Operations Supervisor/Instructor, Maintenance Supervisor, FIN Team Superintendent, and Maintenance Manager. Philip also served as the Maintenance Manager at the Nevada National Security Site and as Construction Manager at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Throughout his career, he has been awarded several awards including multiple Letters of Recognition, Site VPs Premier Choice Awards, and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Defense Award of Excellence. Philip is the proud father of two children—both Navy veterans and is the grandfather of three amazing grandchildren. He has coached high school wrestling for over 20 years and is certified as a professional MMA referee and judge. He grew up near St. Louis, MO, with his 17 siblings and is an avid fan of the St. Louis Blues hockey organization. He has 24 years of nuclear experience, beginning in 1985 with his career in the United States Naval Nuclear Program where he spent over 4 years as a nuclear operations instructor and lead mechanic during a complex overhaul of the A1W Prototype. Following his naval service, he attended Highline Community College while working as a City of Seattle licensed “Unlimited" Boiler Operator for a commercial hospital-laundry facility. In 1991, he began working for Argonne National Laboratory-West as a Reactor Operator at Experimental Breeder Reactor-II (EBR-II) where he qualified as a Shift Supervisor. Following the shutdown of EBR-II, he supervised operators during reactor defueling and the disposition of sodium coolant at the Sodium Process Facility. In 2003, he joined the Nuclear Safety Department to provide operations input during the 10 CFR 830 upgrade of ANL-W Safety Basis Documents. In the INL merger in 2005, he served as alternate nuclear facility manager for the Experimenters Facility and was selected as assistant nuclear facility manager for the Space and Security Power System Facility in preparation for assuming the role. In 2006 he left the industry and ran a successful business for 11 years as a Series-7 Licensed Financial Advisor and Limited Partner with Edward Jones Investments. In 2017, Brian came back to INL as Senior Staff for the Operations, Maintenance, U&IS, and Fabrication Division at MFC. In 2020 he was hired in his current role for MFC. He serves on the MFC Nuclear Independent Safety Review Committee, the MFC Corrective Action Review Board, and provides valuable operational support to MFC through collateral assignments. | | | | | | | | | | Utilities & Infrastructure Support Department Head
